Carousel (Light & Shadow no.1)

Carousel (Light and Shadow no.1) draws inspiration from the sculptural works of Isamu Noguchi and Erwin Hauer. Paper lanterns had existed long before Akari, however Noguchi brought his own language to the art transforming lanterns into 'light sculptures'. Erwin Hauer - known for his architectural walls and screens - deftly played with light through complex pattern and the absence of material.

Carousel (Light and Shadow no.1) continues with these traditions - adding my own  elements of movement, interactivity, technology and expressivity.  Rotating the inner shade, subtly changes the dappled pattern, much like light sparkling through the leaves of a tree. The shade is made of traditional coldpress watercolor paper, while the 3D printed base is comprised of a wood-filled PLA filament. This combination of the traditional and high tech truly make Carousel a unique creation.  My hope is Carousel will be a light that you will continue to experience and enjoy in many ways for years to come.

*Carousel (Light & Shadow no.1) is handmade. Please expect 2-3 week delivery.
